Thomas Morrison was my Godfather and my grandmother Willi Posey's boyfriend. They had known each other since children in Jacksonville, Florida but she threw him over for my grandfather Andrew Jones, in the early 20s. After divorcing Grandpa Andrew, she and Tommy became an item again. When I was christened in 1952 at Abyssinian Baptist Church by the Reverend Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Thomas Morrison became my godfather. In the background, an early oil painting by Faith, c. 1957.
